Mouthguards

Types of mouthguards

Universal, pre-formed mouthguards are widely available and offer some protection against mouth injuries during high-risk activities. However, they are not very comfortable or adjustable. For better protection and improved comfort, opt for a custom mouthguard made by your dentist.

Advantages of a custom mouthguard

  • Comfortable and stable
  • Makes breathing and speaking easier
  • Designed using dental impressions of your mouth and made of special material

Studies have shown that custom mouthguards are the only way to effectively protect the structures of your mouth (inside of your cheeks, teeth, tongue, and jaw) and lessen the severity of fractures and concussions.

Are you into gymnastics, horseback riding, hockey or martial arts? Remember to wear your mouthguard during practices and competitions.
